Xtream-Masters OTT panel, backups

IPTV Panel Backup and Restore: local, xDrive, Dropbox

Xtream-Masters is a self-hosted IPTV / OTT panel for Ubuntu 20.04 to 26.04 that backs up your panel database automatically and keeps off-site copies in encrypted xDrive cloud storage and in Dropbox.

If the main server dies, you install a new one, upload the backup and your users, lines, streams, movies, series and settings come back.

  • Automatic local backups
  • xDrive cloud included
  • No lock-in
Triple backup systemBuilt into every license
3copies
  • Local: automatic backups in /home/xtreamaster/backups/
  • xDrive cloud: encrypted, off-site, free add-on
  • Dropbox: optional second cloud copy via API
  • Restore from the admin panel or over SSH
See the IPTV admin panel

How does IPTV panel backup work?

Xtream-Masters keeps panel backups in three places: automatic database backups on the main server in /home/xtreamaster/backups/, an encrypted copy in xDrive cloud (a free add-on included with the license) and an optional copy in your Dropbox via API. You restore from the admin panel or, for large databases, over SSH with one command.

A local backup alone is useless if the main server dies. Keep at least one off-site copy, check the xDrive dashboard regularly and test a restore from time to time.

Where your IPTV panel backups live

One database, three copies. If the main server fails, any copy brings the panel back on a new server.

Off-site copies

xDrive is encrypted and included, Dropbox connects via API

Restore users, lines, streams, movies, series and settings

No lock-in: Xtream-Masters backups can be imported by the other major panels on the market.

Set up xDrive encrypted cloud backup

xDrive is included with your license. Set it once and backups run automatically on schedule.

  1. 1 Account

    Register at xDrive

Open cloud.xtream-masters.com and register, or log in if you already have an account.

  2. 2 API key

    Create an API key

Profile > Account Settings > Developers > Create API Key. Keep the key private.

  3. 3 Admin panel

    Connect the panel

Admin Panel > Profile icon > xDrive Backup Storage, paste the key, set backup options, Save.

  4. 4 Verify

    Test one backup

Trigger a manual backup and check that it appears in the xDrive dashboard.

Add Dropbox as a second copy

In xDrive Backup Storage, select the Dropbox option and connect your Dropbox account via API. Backups are then also stored in your Dropbox. Use xDrive and Dropbox together: if one fails, you still have the other copy.

Multi-Main keeps 7 days of backups

With the optional Multi-Main add-on, the Sub-Main node keeps an automatic database copy. If the main server goes down unexpectedly, the backups of the latest 7 days are on the Multi-Main node in /home/xtreamaster/backups.

How to restore an IPTV panel backup

Two ways to restore. Always make a fresh backup before you restore an old one.

Restore from the admin panel

Best for normal database sizes.

  1. Upload backup.sql.gz to /home/xtreamaster/backups/.
  2. Open Backup in the admin panel.
  3. Click Restore Backup and wait. You can follow the progress in the panel.

Restore over SSH (large databases)

The fastest and most reliable way. List your backups, then run one command:

ls -lh /home/xtreamaster/backups/
zcat /home/xtreamaster/backups/YOUR_BACKUP.sql.gz | mysql -u DB_USER -pDB_PASS -P DB_PORT DB_NAME

No space between -p and the password. No output means success; the restore is done when the prompt returns. The panel database port is 7999.

Move to a new main server with a backup

  1. Back up: admin panel > Backup > Generate Backup Now, then download the file from /home/xtreamaster/backups/.
  2. New server: in the Master CMS panel (xm: account) delete the old main server, add the new one with its SSH details and wait for the install. Ubuntu 24.04 is recommended.
  3. Restore: upload backup.sql.gz to /home/xtreamaster/backups/, log in with admin / admin, open Backup, click Restore Backup.
  4. Bring it online: Manage Server > Restart Service on each load balancer, wait up to 2 minutes, then reboot the main server. A changed main IP updates when you log in to the Master CMS panel.

Xtream UI or XUI backup? Migrate it

To back up an Xtream UI, XUI.ONE, NXT or other panel database, export it on the old server:

mysqldump -u USER -p DB_NAME > backup.sql

Put the file on your Xtream-Masters server as /root/backup.sql (or .sql.gz), click Migrate Database in the Master CMS panel, pick your old panel and click Migrate. Users, lines, bouquets, streams, movies, series, categories, resellers and settings move across. Full steps: Xtream UI, XUI and NXT migration guide.

IPTV panel backup questions

Short answers about automatic backups, xDrive, Dropbox, restore and Xtream UI or XUI databases.

01

Does the Xtream-Masters IPTV panel back up automatically?

Yes. The panel writes automatic database backups to /home/xtreamaster/backups/ on the main server. You can also open Backup in the admin panel, click Generate Backup Now and download the file. Add xDrive or Dropbox so a copy also lives off the server.

02

Is xDrive cloud backup free?

Yes. xDrive encrypted cloud backup is a free add-on included with your Xtream-Masters license. Register at cloud.xtream-masters.com, create an API key under Profile > Account Settings > Developers, then enter it in Admin Panel > Profile icon > xDrive Backup Storage and click Save.

03

Can I back up my IPTV panel to Dropbox?

Yes. Open xDrive Backup Storage in the admin panel, select the Dropbox option and connect your Dropbox account via API. Backups are then stored in your Dropbox. You can use xDrive and Dropbox together, so one copy survives if the other fails.

04

How do I restore an IPTV panel backup?

Upload the backup.sql.gz file to /home/xtreamaster/backups/, open Backup in the admin panel and click Restore Backup. For large databases, restore over SSH with zcat and mysql, which is much faster than the panel restore. Always make a fresh backup before you restore an old one.

05

How do I back up an Xtream UI or XUI database?

Export it on the old server with mysqldump -u USER -p DB_NAME > backup.sql. To move it to Xtream-Masters, put the file on the new server as /root/backup.sql (or .sql.gz), click Migrate Database in the Master CMS panel, pick your old panel and click Migrate.

06

Can other panels read Xtream-Masters backups?

Yes. Xtream-Masters backups are supported by the other major panels on the market, so your data is not locked in. If you ever decide to leave, you take a backup and import it into the new panel.

07

Does the Multi-Main add-on keep a database backup?

Yes. With the optional Multi-Main add-on, the Sub-Main node keeps an automatic copy of the database. If the main server goes down unexpectedly, the backups of the latest 7 days are on the Multi-Main node in /home/xtreamaster/backups. Sub-Main protects data, it does not replace the main server.
