TiviMate Error Code 404 Fix: What Error 404 Means and How to Fix It

TiviMate shows "error code 404" or "404 Not Found" when a channel, playlist or TV guide will not load? Here is what 404 means for IPTV, why it almost always points to a changed URL or a provider-side change, and how to fix it on Firestick, Android TV and phones.

Last updated: 3 November 2026

Short answer TiviMate error code 404 means Not Found: the provider's server answered, but the playlist, channel or URL the app asked for does not exist there. Usually the server URL or M3U link changed, the channel was removed, or the account expired. Get the current URL from your provider, then update or re-add the playlist.

What is error code 404 on IPTV?

404 is one of the standard HTTP status codes and means Not Found. TiviMate does not host channels; it asks your provider's server for a playlist, a stream or a TV guide file. When the server is online but has nothing at that address, it answers 404 and the app shows the code. So a 404 is good news in one way: your device reached the server. The address is what is wrong.

Your device

TiviMate requests a playlist, a channel or the EPG.

Server reached

The provider's server is online and answers.

Address not found

The URL, channel or account is not there any more: 404.

Where the 404 appears tells you a lot. A 404 when adding or updating the playlist points to the server URL, M3U link or account. A 404 on a single channel or movie points to that item. An empty TV guide with working channels points to the EPG URL.

Likely causeWhat to do
The provider changed the server URL, M3U link or DNSAsk the provider for the current server URL or M3U link, then edit the playlist or add it again.
Typo in the URL (missing http://, wrong port, extra space or character)Re-type the URL exactly as the provider sent it, including http:// and the port number.
The channel, movie or episode was removed or moved by the providerUpdate the playlist so the app gets the new stream addresses. If one channel stays at 404, report it to the provider.
Account expired, deleted or moved to another serverSome servers answer 404 for accounts they no longer know. Check the account status and expiry with your provider.
Old cached playlist or EPG dataUpdate the playlist and the EPG, clear the app cache and restart the device.
The EPG (TV guide) URL is dead, so the guide is empty while channels still playAsk the provider for the current EPG URL and replace it in the playlist settings.
A network filter (ISP, router or DNS) intercepts the requestTest on a phone hotspot and try a different DNS server. If it works there, tell your provider.

How to fix TiviMate error 404 (8 steps)

Work through the steps in order and test after each one.

Step 1: Check if the problem is one channel or all of them

Open several live channels and a movie. If only one item shows 404, the provider removed or moved it. If everything shows 404, the playlist URL, server URL or account is the problem.

Step 2: Test the playlist link outside the app

If you have an M3U link, open it in a web browser on a phone or computer. If the browser also returns 404 or Not Found, the link itself is dead and only the provider can give you a working one.

Step 3: Re-type the server URL and login

Compare the URL in the app with the one from your provider character by character. Include http:// (or https:// if the provider says so) and the port, for example http://example.com:8080, with no spaces before or after.

Step 4: Update the playlist, or remove it and add it again

Open the playlist settings in TiviMate and run an update. If 404 remains, remove the playlist and add it again with the current details from your provider.

Step 5: Check your subscription

Ask your provider whether the account is still active, has expired or was moved to a new server. A moved account often means a new server URL.

Step 6: Clear the app cache and restart

On a Fire TV go to Settings > Applications > Manage Installed Applications, select the app and choose Clear cache. On Android TV use Settings > Apps. Then restart the device.

Step 7: Test another network and DNS

Connect the device to a phone hotspot. If the playlist loads there, your ISP, router or DNS is interfering. Try a different DNS server and tell your provider.

Step 8: Contact your provider, then test another player

Send the provider the error code 404, the channel or playlist that fails and the time. To rule out the app, add the same login to a second IPTV player: a 404 there too confirms a provider-side URL or account issue.

Server URL format: an Xtream Codes style login is a server URL plus a username and a password. The URL is normally http://, the host name, a colon and the port, for example http://example.com:8080. Use exactly the host and port your provider gives you.
Before you remove a playlist or clear data: write down the server URL, username and password or M3U link. You need them to add the playlist again.

How to fix error code 404 on Firestick

On a Firestick or Fire TV the 404 is shown by the IPTV app, not by Fire OS, so the steps above apply. On Fire TV specifically:

  • Restart from Settings > My Fire TV > Restart, or unplug the stick for 30 seconds.
  • Clear the cache from Settings > Applications > Manage Installed Applications, then select the app.
  • Typing long URLs with the remote causes typos. Compare every character with the details your provider sent.

If you get 404 on every playlist update after these checks, the link or account no longer exists on that server. Ask your provider for the current server URL.

Try a different player to rule out the app

A 404 for a dead link or a removed channel appears in every player, so switching apps will not fix it. A second player is still a quick test: add the same login to it. If it plays, TiviMate's saved data is the problem and re-adding the playlist should fix it. If it also returns 404, the URL or account is the issue and only your provider can fix it.

The Xtream-Masters IPTV Player is a simple way to run this test. It signs in with an Xtream Codes login, an M3U/M3U8 playlist or a single stream URL, needs no sign-up and stores your login on the device. It does not include any channels or playlists, so you use the same details your provider gave you. It is free to download (the Windows app has a free trial, then a licence per device, see xm-player.com).

Error 404 Questions

TiviMate Error Code 404: FAQ

01

How to fix the 404 error?

A 404 error means the address requested does not exist on the server. In an IPTV app, get the current server URL or M3U link from your provider, re-type it with http:// and the port, update or re-add the playlist, clear the app cache and check that your account is still active. If one channel stays at 404, the provider has removed or moved it.

02

What is code 404 on IPTV?

Code 404 is the standard HTTP status Not Found. On IPTV it means the provider's server is reachable but the playlist, channel, movie or EPG address the app asked for does not exist there, usually because the URL changed, the item was removed or the account no longer exists on that server.

03

What is error code 404 on Firestick?

On a Firestick the 404 is shown by the app you are using, not by Fire OS. In an IPTV app such as TiviMate it means the playlist or stream address was not found on the provider's server. Update or re-add the playlist with the provider's current URL, clear the app cache under Settings > Applications > Manage Installed Applications and restart the stick.

04

Does TiviMate error 404 mean my subscription has expired?

Not always. 404 most often means a changed URL or a removed channel, but some servers also answer 404 for accounts they no longer recognise. Ask your provider to confirm the account status and the current server URL.

05

Why does only one channel show error 404?

If other channels play, the provider has removed, renamed or moved that one channel, or its stream is offline. Update the playlist so the app gets the new address, and report the channel to your provider if it stays at 404.

06

Is TiviMate error 404 the same as error 458?

No. 404 is the standard HTTP Not Found code: the server works but the address does not exist. 458 is not a standard HTTP code; it is the provider's server refusing the stream, most often because of a connection limit, an expired account or an overloaded or blocked server.

07

Will a different IPTV player fix error 404?

Only if the problem was the app's saved data. A dead URL or removed channel returns 404 in every player. That is why a second player is a good test: if the same login also gives 404 there, contact your provider for a new URL.
