What does "authorization failed for above host" mean?
IPTV Smarters Pro is a player. It does not sell channels or check your subscription itself; it sends your server URL, username and password to your provider's server and shows what the server answers. "Authorization failed" means the server at that URL, the host shown above the message, did not accept the login. Either the details are wrong, the account is not active, or something between you and the server stopped the request.
You enter
Server URL, username and password from your provider.
Network
Router, DNS and ISP carry the login to the host.
Provider server
Checks the account and answers: accepted or authorization failed.
Authorization failed for above host: causes and fixes
| Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|
| Wrong server URL format (missing http://, wrong or missing port, extra path or spaces) | Enter the URL exactly as the provider sent it, normally http://host:port, for example http://example.com:8080. |
| Username or password typed wrong (they are case-sensitive) | Re-type both slowly. Watch for capital letters, autocorrect, a space at the end, and the letters O/0 and l/I. |
| Full M3U link pasted into the server URL field | Split the link: the part before /get.php is the server URL, and the username and password values go in their own fields. |
| Subscription expired, suspended, unpaid or not activated yet | Ask the provider to check the account status and expiry date and to reactivate it if needed. |
| Provider changed its server URL or DNS | Ask the provider for the current server URL and add a new login with it. |
| Account already in use on other devices | Close the app on other devices that share the login and try again. Ask the provider how many connections your plan allows. |
| ISP, router or DNS blocking the server | Test on a phone hotspot and try a different DNS server. If it works there, tell your provider. |
| Wrong date and time on the device or TV | Turn on automatic date and time, then sign in again. |
| Old saved profile or corrupted app data | Delete the saved user profile and add it again, clear the app cache and data, or reinstall the app. |
The right server URL format
Most login failures come down to the server URL field. Use the Xtream Codes API style login (server URL, username, password) and enter the URL like this:
| You typed | Problem | Enter instead |
|---|---|---|
example.com:8080 | No http:// | http://example.com:8080 |
http://example.com | Port missing (if your provider gave one) | http://example.com:8080 |
http://example.com:8080/get.php?username=... | Full M3U link in the URL field | http://example.com:8080, with the username and password in their own fields |
http://example.com:8080 (space at the end) | Hidden space | The same URL without spaces |
example.com and 8080 are placeholders. Use the host and port your provider sends you, and https:// only if they tell you to.
How to fix the IPTV Smarters Pro login failed error (9 steps)
Try a login after each step so you know which one fixed it.
Step 1: Get the exact login details from your provider
You need three things for an Xtream Codes style login: the server URL, the username and the password. Copy them from the provider's latest message, not from an old note, because providers change server URLs.
Step 2: Enter the server URL in the right format
Type http:// (or https:// only if the provider says so), then the host, a colon and the port, for example http://example.com:8080. Do not add /get.php, playlist parameters or spaces.
Step 3: Split an M3U link if that is all you have
An M3U link such as http://example.com:8080/get.php?username=ABC&password=XYZ&type=m3u_plus contains the login. The server URL is http://example.com:8080, the username is ABC and the password is XYZ.
Step 4: Re-type the username and password
Both are case-sensitive. Type them by hand instead of pasting, check for autocorrect and remove any space at the start or end.
Step 5: Check the account with your provider
Ask whether the subscription is active, paid and not expired or suspended, whether it is locked to a device, and whether the server URL has changed.
Step 6: Close the app on other devices
If the same login is used on a phone, tablet or second TV, close the app there, wait one or two minutes and sign in again.
Step 7: Fix the date and time
Set the phone, Fire TV or Smart TV to automatic date and time. A wrong clock can make secure connections and account checks fail.
Step 8: Test another network and DNS
Connect the device to a phone hotspot and sign in again. If it works there, your ISP, router or DNS is blocking the server. Try a different DNS server and tell your provider.
Step 9: Delete the profile, clear data or reinstall
Remove the saved user profile in the app and add it again. If that fails, clear the app cache and data (on Android: Settings > Apps, select the app, Storage) or uninstall and reinstall the app, then sign in with the fresh details.
Authorization failed on a Samsung, LG or Hisense TV
Many people see this error on a Smart TV app. The causes and the 9 steps are the same. On a TV, also:
- Switch the TV off at the wall for one minute, not just standby, then sign in again.
- Check the date, time and time zone in the TV settings and set them to automatic.
- Type the URL carefully with the remote. Compare every character with the details your provider sent.
- Uninstall and reinstall the app from the TV's own app store, then add a fresh login.
Try a different player to rule out the app
If the login still fails, test the same server URL, username and password in a second IPTV player. If it signs in there, the problem is IPTV Smarters Pro or its saved data. If you get a login error there too, the account or the server is the cause and only your provider can fix it. A different player cannot fix wrong details or an expired subscription.
The Xtream-Masters IPTV Player is a simple way to run this test. It signs in with an Xtream Codes login, an M3U/M3U8 playlist or a single stream URL, needs no sign-up and stores your login on the device. It does not include any channels or playlists. It is free to download (the Windows app has a free trial, then a licence per device, see xm-player.com).
